Drive-through service bays in North Florida: what to know

A drive-through bay puts an overhead door on both the front and back walls, so a car rolls straight through when the job is done. Quick lube, tire and inspection shops lean on this layout because the line keeps moving and nobody reverses past a lift. The tradeoff is structural: two big openings in opposite walls leave less solid wall to brace the frame, so the contractor has to carry the bracing elsewhere, often with portal frames beside the doors. The lot also needs room for an approach lane and an exit lane, which the site plan has to show.
